Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Description

Skymax Construction Private Limited is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to oversee quality control and assurance activities for structural steel fabrication, welding, painting, and site erection. The ideal candidate will ensure all work complies with approved engineering drawings, project specifications, client requirements, and relevant national and international quality standards. Key Responsibilities Inspect incoming raw materials and verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs) for compliance. Monitor fabrication, fit-up, welding, and dimensional accuracy of steel structures. Conduct visual inspections and coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities, including UT, MT, PT, and RT. Inspect surface preparation, painting quality, and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) measurements. Verify structural erection quality, alignment, bolt tightening, and dimensional tolerances at site. Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), inspection reports, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and quality dossiers. Ensure compliance with project specifications, ISO 9001, IS 800, AWS D1.1, and other applicable industry standards. Coordinate with clients, consultants, third-party inspectors, and project teams during inspections and quality audits. Identify quality issues, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and monitor implementation. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes and project outcomes. Ensure adherence to workplace safety and quality management procedures. Required Qualifications B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience in QA/QC for structural steel fabrication and erection projects. Strong understanding of welding inspection, fabrication processes, NDT methods, and painting inspection. Knowledge of ISO 9001, IS 800, AWS D1.1, and relevant construction quality standards. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Proficiency in preparing QA/QC documentation and inspection reports. Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
