About the Role We are seeking an experienced Design & Drawing Head to lead the Design & Drawing Department for a leading Transmission Line Tower Manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in structural design, detailing, prototype development, BOM preparation, and technical coordination with clients and manufacturing teams. This role requires strong leadership capabilities to drive design excellence, optimize steel consumption, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality engineering outputs. Key Responsibilities 1. Design Management Lead the complete design and detailing activities for transmission line towers, gantries, and railway structural projects. Review and approve structural calculations, design outputs, and engineering deliverables. Validate tower geometry, member sizing, structural connections, and compliance with customer specifications. Coordinate with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders for design approvals. Oversee prototype (Proto) development and prototype assembly activities. 2. Drawing & Detailing Supervise preparation and approval of: Prototype Assembly Drawings Part Drawings Shop Fabrication Drawings Packing Drawings Ensure all engineering drawings are accurate, error-free, and released within project timelines. Maintain revision control and document management throughout the project lifecycle. 3. Bill of Materials (BOM) Management Review and approve Bills of Materials (BOMs). Optimize material utilization to reduce steel consumption while maintaining structural integrity. Verify member weights, quantities, and material specifications. Coordinate with Procurement for material planning and requirements. 4. Manufacturing & Technical Support Provide technical guidance and clarification to production teams. Resolve fabrication-related design issues efficiently. Review and approve engineering modifications during manufacturing. Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure dimensional accuracy and fabrication quality. 5. Customer & Project Coordination Attend technical discussions with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders. Ensure timely approval of engineering drawings and technical submissions. Support project execution teams during inspections, prototype approvals, and technical audits. 6. Design Optimization & Continuous Improvement Drive design optimization initiatives to reduce project costs and steel consumption. Standardize design practices to improve manufacturing efficiency. Develop innovative engineering solutions without compromising structural safety or quality. Minimize fabrication complexity, rework, and material wastage. 7. Team Leadership Lead and mentor Design Engineers, Detailing Engineers, CAD Engineers, and Draftsmen. Allocate workloads, monitor productivity, and review technical deliverables. Conduct performance evaluations and identify training and development needs. Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) On-time release of approved drawings. High first-time client approval rate. Reduction in steel consumption through design optimization. Zero major design errors impacting production. Timely resolution of technical queries. Improved drawing turnaround time and engineering productivity. Compliance with customer specifications and quality standards. Reduction in fabrication rework due to design improvements. High customer satisfaction with technical support.
